The
constitution of Nature and Society Forum states that the object for
which the association exists is to contribute to the establishment and
maintenance of a society which is ecologically sustainable and conducive
to the health and well-being of all sections of the human population
by:
- providing
an institutional framework for people to improve their understanding
of nature and of the human relationship with nature, especially as
this understanding is relevant to the health and well-being both of
humans and of the biosphere;
- encouraging
creative thinking and informed discussion on the significance of this
understanding for decision-making and policies at all levels;
- acting
as a bridge between interested and concerned members of the community
on the one hand and specialist academics and researchers on the other;
- facilitating
the flow of relevant information and the exchange of ideas between
individuals, organisations and communities; and
- encouraging
the expression of opinions, ideas and feelings about nature-society
themes through writing, community arts, radio, television and the
Internet.
